I inherited Rob's old desktop. And I can game on my own machine now and everything is sunshine and lollipops, right?
Of course! At least until I did something monumentally stupid yesterday.
Deca dropped her computer off for an upgrade, and Rob wanted to test it out. My computer is out in the open while his is in a little compartment in a desk, so I agreed that I could just plug things into hers. I tried, it didn't work, we wiggled the power cords in, tried again, nothing.
It's only THEN I realize the monitor is off.
Rob's old computer runs on 240 volt. US computers do not. The computer blew a fuse and now I have no pc, no chapter, no notes, no grading files until we get a new one.
The fuse is also hard to find locally and ordering may take more than a week.
I leave to Austin for 7 days early Wednesday morning. I was supposed to have a chapter up today. My main thesis outline is also on there. And the stupid fucking hard drive doesn't fit our reader because it's old.
Fuck.
PS: Good news is I didn't fuck up deca's new comp too.
